Fulham defender Moritz Volz admits he will have one eye on the World Cup next season.

The German full-back has impressed at Craven Cottage since making the move from Arsenal and is now ready to stake his claim for international honours.

Volz believes that with a full Premiership campaign behind him, next year’s World Cup is not beyond him.

Germany are the host nation in 2006 and Volz concedes that it is his dream to break into Jurgen Klinsmann’s full squad.

”At this stage in my career I always have to look to improve and if I can do that then I may get a chance with Germany,” Volz told Shoot.

”With the World Cup coming up at the end of next season in Germany it’s important that I give myself a chance of making the squad.

”It really would be great to play for my country on home soil.

”If I am playing regularly with Fulham next season then hopefully that will come.”
