Newcastle United have made a bid for Fulham’s Luis Boa Morte.

Chairman Freddy Shepherd has confirmed The Magpies have made the move for long term target Boa Morte, although it is understood The Cottagers have swiftly rejected the offer.

“We have made an offer to Fulham for Luis Boa Morte,” Shepherd told the club’s official website.

“We are now waiting for a reply from Fulham.”

The North East outfit are desperate to bolster their attacking options, with only Alan Shearer, Michael Chopra and Shola Ameobi available to manager Graeme Souness.

The Portuguese winger was in blistering form at St James’ Park last season, scoring in Fulham’s stunning 4-1 success and he is also believed to have attracted interest from Middlesbrough.

Following Fulham’s rejection the Magpies, who falso ailed to sign Boa Morte in January, must now consider whether to submit a new offer for the Portugal international.
