Andy Cole has travelled to Thailand to join his new Manchester City team-mates after passing a medical.

The former England international is close to completing a free transfer move to The City of Manchester Stadium from Fulham.

City boss Stuart Pearce has moved for Cole to flesh out his striking options after admitting he could not refuse the chance to sign the former Manchester United ace.

Cole has already concurred on personal terms with City and has now come through his medical without a hitch.

The predatory front man has flown out to Bangkok to start training with his new colleagues, who are competing in the FA Premier League Asia Trophy.

Cole’s arrival will be too late for him to figure in Wednesday’s match against Bolton Wanderers but he could play at the weekend.

City will face either Everton or the Thailand national team on Saturday in a match which is likely to herald Cole’s debut for his new club.
