Moritz Volz has promised he will leave everything on the field in Fulham’s battle against the drop.

The German full-back returned to the starting line-up after an injury ravaged season against Portsmouth and insists that the disappointment of last weekend’s loss at Bolton is now firmly behind the squad.

We all know what an important time this is, and we don’t want to wait too long before we reach safety. It’s a very stressful time when you’re caught up in it, and the sooner you can start planning for next season the better.

We can’t relax until we’re mathematically safe. We’ve got a busy schedule coming up and hopefully we can start off with a win against Manchester City on Saturday. We had a hard game up there on the first day of the season – they attack well and are a good team; we went one down, but equalised in the second half to get a draw, and up there that wasn’t a bad result.

But at home we’ll be looking to get the win and get the three points. They’ve got players on form and are playing well, so it will be tough, especially for the defence in keeping a clean sheet, because they do have players who are always dangerous and who can nick a goal out of nothing. So we’ll have to be alert. But we’re at home, we’ll get chances, and we’ve got the players like Boa and Coley and Steed who can create things for us. We’re positive and confident that we can do the job.”
