Steed Malbranque’s Fulham future is in serious doubt after he stormed out of Craven Cottage having been left out of the side to face Everton this afternoon by Chris Coleman.
The French midfielder was angry at being axed having proven his fitness for the reserves this week and had been expected to be recalled to the Fulham starting line-up following the derby defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Malbranque left the ground having been informed he was not part of the matchday squad – and could be a transfer target for a number of Premier League sides, who have held a longstanding interest in his talents.
Coleman told his post-match press conference:
“Steed is a quality player and still has a big future at the club but he hasn’t been having the best of times. I can only pick a team that I think is best equipped to go out and beat Everton and that’s what I did. Everybody reacts badly if they’re not in the team and I’ve no idea if he watched the game.”
