Collins John was delighted to score the crucial third goal that broke Derby County’s brave resistance and secured Fulham’s safe passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Dutch striker told Fulham’s official website that was pleased to have been able to make the most of a rare chance to show Chris Coleman what he can do in front of goal.

“I’m feeling very, very pleased. Obviously I haven’t been playing all that much, and I’m like everybody else, I just want to play, play, play. But that’s part of football and I’ll always do my best.

When I came on we were 2-1 up and I thought we would win the game. But of course they equalised right at the end, and I thought – ok I’m going to get longer to play, that will give me more chance to score. And of course I did, so that made me very happy, and then we scored again to make it 4-2 and I was even happier.

I always say, “God give me goals”, and I got one on Tuesday for Holland as well, so that’s fantastic. So I’m feeling very happy; sometimes things go for you, and sometimes they don’t, but I’m scoring goals and that’s a great feeling.

t was a very important result for us; we want to do well in the Cup, and now we’ll look forward to going to Bolton on Saturday. We know it will be a very hard game – Bolton are playing very well at the moment and they’re very tough. But if we can get past them we’re in the Quarter Finals, and that’s a very exciting prospect. It would mean an awful lot to me to go all the way in this competition, and if we got lucky we could end up playing in Europe and that would mean an awful lot to me as well.
