Fulham manager Chris Coleman has praised his compatriot Danny Gabbidon’s composed recent displays for the Welsh national side as he seeks central defensive reinforcements.

The Cardiff City centre back became a regular in the national side under Mark Hughes and produced an excellent performance in John Toshack’s first game in charge as Wales won 2-0 against Hungary on Wednesday night.

The 25 year-old was recently named the Championship’s player of the month for January and Coleman has no doubt that he could easily make the step up to the top flight.

Coleman told Sky Sports: “Danny played as a sweeper for Wales and was outstanding. He seems to play his best football for his country, and if he keeps improving I’m sure he will be in the Premiership soon.”

The Fulham boss wouldn’t be drawn on whether he might make a move for the Cardiff defender in the summer as he seeks to strengthen a defence that has already conceded 44 goals this season.
