Manchester City full back Ben Thatcher’s proposed move to Fulham has collapsed.

The 29-year-old left-back had been expected to complete his switch to London in the next few days, but City confirmed today that the deal had fallen through.

“Ben underwent a medical examination at Fulham last week but unfortunately negotiations between the two clubs have not reached a successful conclusion,” club communications chief Paul Tyrrell told the official City website. “Consequently the player will not be joining the West London outfit.”

Thatcher, who joined City last summer from Leicester, had struggled to settle in the north west, especially after his home was twice broken into.

The club agreed to the Welsh international star’s transfer request and Fulham stepped in with a bid believed to be in the region of £500,000.

However, that deal has now fallen through and he is expected to re-join the City squad for training.
