Fulham are close to agreeing new contracts with Luis Boa Morte and Edwin van der Sar, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Boa Morte has been heavily linked with Newcastle United but the Portuguese winger appears ready to commit his future to Fulham after the Whites failed to receive an offer from the St. James’ Park club.

Fulham boss Chris Coleman said: “We have heard nothing from Newcastle. Luis is an important player for us and is on the verge of signing a new contract.”

Coleman was also full of praise for the way van der Sar, who has been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, responded to being left out for Mark Crossley earlier in the season.

“The offer has also gone to Edwin and we need to get him signed as soon as we can. I left him out not long ago and I don’t think that’s ever happened to him in his career, but he has rolled up his sleeves and he’s back in the team. He’s been fantastic in the dressing room, talking to the rest of the lads. We’ve seen his true colours.”
