Fulham are keen to land Manchester United keeper Roy Carroll on a free in the summer – and Edwin van der Sar could move to Old Trafford.

Wales veteran Mark Crossley is currently number one at Craven Cottage – leading to speculation that United could move for an unsettled van der Sar at the end of the season.

Carroll is also top man between the sticks at United after Tim Howard was dropped following a number of high-profile blunders – but he has so far turned down the offer of a new contract.

The Northern Ireland international has been offered fresh terms of around £20,000 a week at Old Trafford – but he knows Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to sign a new keeper, with Chelsea’s Carlo Cudicini top of his wanted after losing his regular berth to Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge.

The £27million capture of Wayne Rooney means United have already spent their summer transfer budget – so Ferguson could turn to van der Sar, who could move to the North West on a free transfer.
