Fulham manager Chris Coleman has revealed he is exploring his goalkeeping options because number one Edwin van der Sar is stalling over a new deal.

The Holland international is showing few signs of committing himself to a fresh contract at Craven Cottage and his present terms expire at the end of the season.

Veteran keeper Mark Crossley has kept clean sheets in the recent wins against Birmingham City and Tottenham, and Coleman is ready to look in the transfer market if the chance arises.

“Edwin can’t blame us in those circumstances if we look at other keepers,” said Coleman.

Crossley’s form has certainly given the Fulham boss some food for thought and, although van der Sar was declared unfit to face Spurs, the competition for places can only be good for The Cottagers.

“When somebody comes in and does well, they stay there,” he added.

“I would be a hypocrite to leave him [Crossley] out and I’m not going to do that.”
