Cultured defender Mark Hudson emerged from the Fulham academy and threatened to break into Jean Tigana’s squad as the Whites were storming to the Division One title. Despite making his debut in the League Cup in 2000, Hudson never managed to nail down a spot in the first team – not helped by Fulham recruiting new centre backs. He had two successful loan spells at Crystal Palace before moving to Selhurst Park permanently in July 2004. Hudson went on to make over 400 professional appearances and moved into coaching after his retirement. He was twice caretaker manager at Huddersfield Town and took charge of Cardiff City between November 2022 and January 2023.
