Amdy Faye has turned down a potential move to Fulham and is heading back to Portsmouth.

The Senegalese international midfielder had held discussions with the Londoners over a switch to Craven Cottage after the two clubs agreed a fee, believed to be around £3.5m. But Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has failed that the deal has collapsed – and suggested that Faye had rejected the chance to sign for Fulham.

“Amdy’s staying and I’m delighted. He’s gone away and thought about it, but he wants to stay. We’re not going to give him any more money to stay. It was that he went away and realised how much he enjoyed it here last season.”
