Edwin van der Sar’s agent has revealed the Fulham keeper will look to stay in England as opposed to seeking a move to Holland in the summer.

The Dutch number one has been strongly linked with a return to Holland, with PSV Eindhoven manager Guus Hiddink making him his favoured option to replace Ronald Waterreus.

Van der Sar has yet to comment on the reports, but his agent has indicated that he will look to extend the keeper’s career in England.

It would appear that van der Sar would prefer to continue his career with Fulham, but is quite prepared to switch clubs if a decent opportunity presents itself.

“Edwin will not come to the Netherlands,” van der Sar’s agent Rob Jansen told ANP. “He will stay in England.

“He has a running deal for one more season, however it doesn’t automatically mean he will stay at Fulham.

“We will wait to see what will come to us.”

The news will come as a blow to Hiddink, but he may still try and persuade van der Sar that PSV is his best option – with the former South Korea coach likely to dangle the carrot of UEFA Champions League football in front of the 33-year-old.
