Zat Knight has backed Fulham to get over the disappointment of exiting the FA Cup last weekend and establish themselves in the top six by the end of the season.

The young centre back believes the Whites were close to getting a result at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime – with his long-range strike rattling the crossbar – and felt Fulham got a raw deal from referee Rob Styles.

“The referee did not have a good game. He did not see anything in the second half. Everything was going United’s way. But we can be pleased with our performance.

Knight revealed that Fulham’s players arranged their own discussions after a recent poor run of form to make sure that they were in a position to finish the season strongly.

“The players had a meeting without the management there and we went over the good and bad things that were happening. We wanted to work out what was going wrong and I think we have turned the corner.”
