French defender Alain Goma has signed an extension to his current deal at Fulham which will see him staying at Craven Cottage until 2006.

The French international moved to Fulham from Newcastle for £4m in 2001 and has become a key part of Chris Coleman’s squad. The central defender, who would have been out of contract at the end of the current campaign, was delighted to put to paper on a new deal.

Goma said ‘The club wanted me to commit myself and I was happy to do that – I think we can achieve many good things here.

‘I like the way the club is managed, we’ve got some good players here so the future looks good. I’m delighted to have signed, I’m very happy at the club and I’m very proud to be able to play for Fulham for an extra season.’
