Fulham have been left totally baffled by Jerome Bonnissel’s injury nightmare and have sent him back to France to see a specialist.
The left back has been one of the unsung heroes of Fulham’s outstanding Premier League season after joining the Whites in the summer when his contract was cancelled at Glasgow Rangers. But the French full back has been struggling with a mystery ankle complaint that has seen him manage just 23 minutes since December 6th.
Fulham had felt Bonnissel had put his injury woes behind him when he was selected to face Southampton on Boxing Day but the 30 year-old broke down during that match and the club’s medical staff have not been able to identify the cause of his persistent injury issues. Bonnissel has been given permission to visit a specialist in his homeland, who has previously resolved injury problems, this week to seek a second opinion.
