Fulham showed an interest in Johan Radet before completing the signing of Arsenal loanee Moritz Volz.

Chris Coleman was scouring the market for a full back in case the bid to sign the German defender collapsed, and is believed to have had a number of players in mind.

Auxerre’s classy performer Radet was one of the men under scrutiny, but Guy Roux has no intention of allowing another of his promising starlets to leave, certainly not before the end of the season.

Radet is still under contract with AJA until 2005, and the Ligue 1 club realise they will lose Djibril Cisse and Jean-Alain Boumsong in the close season.

Coleman also considered Chelsea’s Mario Melchiot and Middlesbrough full back Stuart Parnaby as potential recruits, but managed to secure Volz’s signature, and has also landed another full back in the shape of left-sided American Carlos Bocanegra.
