Barry Hayles hopes to agree a new contract with Fulham in the new year.

The striker has started on the bench recently but is still keen to stay with the Cottagers.

He said: “I’m one of several players who have been offered new contracts with Fulham in recent weeks, which is great.

“I’m delighted that the manager wants me to stay at the club and that I’m still part of his plans. It’s nice to know that you’re playing for somebody who really wants you.

“I’m currently in the early stages of talks with the club over the deal and I hope to have got something sorted out with them some time early in the new year. I’m very happy here and would like to stay.

“The gaffer has built a great team spirit at Fulham and with us doing so well in the league, it’s a good place to play.
