Fulham today confirmed the striker who equalled the Champions League scoring record last week is on their transfer window hit-list.
Monaco’s Dado Prso celebrated his 29th birthday on Wednesday by blasting four goals in the 8-3 demolition of Deportivo La Coruna.
The Croatian frontman joined AC Milan legend Marco van Basten and Lazio forward Simone Inzaghi as the only men to have to hit the net four times in Europe’s premier club competition.
And Fulham boss Chris Coleman is now plotting a swoop for Prso when the winter transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.
Cottagers chairman Mohamed Fayed is hugely impressed with Coleman for steering the club to seventh in the Premiership despite operating on a shoestring budget.
And the Harrods tycoon will reward the manager by loosening the purse-strings in January.
Coleman said: ‘There’s an opportunity to strengthen and we’ll be trying to bring in a couple of new faces as we need more strength in depth. Prso’s one of a couple of players we’re looking at.
‘We’ve had him watched and he’s a good player – but I hope his price doesn’t go up after those goals! We’ve got a lot of good players and will try and get some more in January. If we get the right ones, it could be a good season.’
Coleman is happy with the form of striker Louis Saha, top-scorer with six goals, and winger Luis Boa Morte – who has five – but wants more back-up.
Prso ensured he stayed in the limelight this weekend as he hit the winner for Monaco against Ajaccio in a Ligue 1 clash on Sunday.
The Croat bagged the only goal of the game against the Corsicans to keep Didier Deschamps’ side at the top of the table.
Prso is on international duty on Saturday as Croatia take on Slovenia in the first leg of their Euro 2004 play-off.
