Fulham winger Luis Boa Morte has apologised to young Anfield striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle for his tackle in Sunday’s Premiership clash between the two sides.

The Portuguese international was dismissed for the dangerous challenge in the dying minutes of the Reds’ 2-1 win at Loftus Road, but Gerard Houllier has confirmed that the former Arsenal man has personally contacted Pongolle to apologise for his reckless actions.

Houllier said: “Boa Morte has contacted Florent personally and has apologised for the tackle. I think it was a tackle borne out of frustration more than anything else. I am pleased he has apologised.”
