Fulham will not progress their interest in French defender Jean-Louis Montero after a trial spell with Chris Coleman’s side.

The 32-year-old full back has spent two weeks in West London but Coleman has decided not to pursue his interest in the former Guingamp man.

Montero has been without a club since the end of last season and had set his sights on a switch to Loftus Road after a proposed move to Paris Saint Germain fell through during the summer.

After putting him through his paces, Fulham officials have decided against signing the veteran stopper, who will now be looking for other options.

Montero has a wealth of experience in France after spells with Troyes, Lorient and Sedan, and clubs such as Sochaux, Nantes and Nice have all been linked with him.

He will now be hoping one of the French sides make a move to sign him once he returns to France.
