Substitute Tom Davis drove home a second half winner as Fulham’s reserves secured a narrow victory over West Ham United at Woking tonight.
Davis, who replaced his namesake Sean in the Fulham midfield at half time, fired a fabulous 25-yard strike past the Hammers goalkeeper to conclude a fine passing move and hand Fulham all three points in this London derby.
Fulham reserve team manager Paul Nevin told the club’s official website:
Our most disappointing performance was against Leicester a couple of games ago. We didn’t give a good account of ourselves on that occasion. But we played well last week against a quality Arsenal side and to get the result against West Ham today was very pleasing.
“Tom Davis has been injured for quite a lot of the season but he’s been working his way back. He replaced Sean and performed well. He’s a central midfielder and plays in a deep-lying role, very similar to Sean. He’s a good short and long passer who can really strike those diagonal balls. He did just that and got us playing a bit more in the second half.”
FULHAM RESERVES (4-5-1): Crossley; Rosenior, Fontaine, Melville, Watkins, S. Davis (T. Davis 45), Stratford, Pratley, Noble, Fazakerley (James 75); McDermott.
