Nobody needs reminding that Lee Clark is a proud Geordie – but the Fulham midfielder is desperate to inflict defeat on his boyhood side when the teams meet at Loftus Road tonight.

Clark, who famously scored the winner when the Whites beat Newcastle in Chris Coleman’s first game in charge last April, insisted there would be no divided loyalties tonight despite his depth of affection for the Magpies.

“Before I even get home from a game, I’ll have had messages from all my mates up there telling me how they got on and how they performed. It’s a big game on Tuesday even without that link, but the link between me and Newcastle is special, so it makes it even bigger.

“But my loyalties will all be with Fulham on Tuesday night, and I hope that we can get the three points and make up for a bit of an indifferent performance from us against Wolves.

“We’re looking forward to it. We’ve got some great tests coming up in the next two or three weeks and we’re looking forward to all of them.

“They haven’t had a great start to the season, but they didn’t last season either. They’ve got great individual players, they’ve got a fantastic manager, and when they play to their ability they’ve got one of the best teams in the country.

“But they’re on a run now, they’ve got their confidence back, they’ll be coming here flying, so we know we’ll be in for one hell of a tough game.”
