Fulham boss Chris Coleman has signed former Wales team-mate Mark Pembridge from Everton for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £500,000. The 32-year-old midfielder has agreed a two-year deal with an option to extend it for a third year.

The Cottagers have been keen to sign a midfielder since they agreed to sell Sean Davis, although his move to Everton collapsed when he failed a medical, and the deal for Pembridge comes just days after Claudio Reyna pulled out a move to Loftus Road at the last minute.

Pembridge told the club’s official website: “Having spoken to Chris Coleman and other officials at the Club, I know that I have made the right decision in coming to Fulham. There is a good spirit around the place and I like the style of football that Chris plays. I am sure that I will be able to add to the squad and I am very much looking forward to joining this season’s campaign.”

Coleman added: “Obviously I know Mark very well because of the Welsh national team. He is renowned for his solid performances in midfield and is very well respected by both club and country. I have every confidence that he will be a fine addition to the squad and I am positive he can make a great contribution to our season.”
