Fulham are expected to complete the signing of Sunderland’s USA international midfielder Claudio Reyna in the next 48 hours. Once that deal is confirmed, the Whites will give the green light for Sean Davis to move to Everton.

Reyna was at Fulham for further talks on Tuesday and is believed to be close to agreeing a switch from the Stadium of Light.

His arrival will leave the way clear for Davis to complete his move.

Everton and Middlesbrough have both been chasing the former England Under-21 star, who handed in a transfer request earlier this month.

But Cottagers boss Chris Coleman insisted Davis could not leave before he had secured a replacement.

The Wearsiders last week confirmed they are in discussions with the Londoners over the 30-year-old former Rangers star, but no fee has yet been revealed.

Reyna moved to the Stadium of Light following his £4.5m move from Ibrox in December 2001.
