Fulham assistant manager was delighted by Fulham’s 4-1 win over Torquay United yesterday afternoon.

The Whites completed an encouraging week in the south west with a strong display at Plainmoor with a first-half strike from Malik Buari, a fine finish by Facundo Sava and a late brace from Louis Saha secured a victory in Fulham’s first pre-season outing.

Kean told the club’s official website: “It’s been a good week. The boys have put in a lot of hard work and it was really good to finish off with a nice victory and to see everyone coming through unscathed. It was a great experience for young Daniel Stratford who came in at rightback and did really well. To be honest there wasn’t a bad player on the pitch. We just concentrated on keeping things simple, moving the ball and winning it back quickly. It was certainly a good experience for the young lads.”

He was delighted with the impact made by Buari and Zesh Rehman as they got a taste of senior football. “As everybody knows Malik’s a fantastic crosser of the ball. He went to cross it to the back post and made it very hard to their goalkeeper to judge – the ball just sneaked in. Afterwards he was joking to the boys that he saw the goalkeeper off his line.”

“Rehman’s not played in midfield too often. But he played well alongside Sean Davis and they both appeared to have a good understanding going. There’s been a real atmosphere of togetherness with the boys. We’ve worked hard and have established a good team spirit – overall I would say that it was a very good performance – everyone played their part.”
