Fulham have told Everton they will have to double their offer if they are to persuade them to let midfielder Sean Davis go.

They have already rejected a £3.5million bid and say he is worth far more than that. Everton manager David Moyes is thought to have more money available but anything less than £7m is unlikely to tempt Fulham.

Former England Under-21 international Davis is a graduate of the club’s academy and became a key player under former manager Jean Tigana.

The 23-year-old has two years left on his contact and Fulham chief executive Bruce Langham said today: “We do not want Davis to leave. He is a hugely important player to us and we value him a lot higher than the offer Everton have made.”
