Veteran goalkeeper Dave Beasant has joined Fulham on trial for the duration of their tour to Austria.

The 44-year-old keeper rejected a new deal at Brighton earlier this month after spending last season at the Withdean Stadium.

“Dave has travelled to Austria and Fulham want to take a look at hime during games out there,” said Beasant’s lawyer Tim Bailey told this website.

“Dave still believes he has something to offer and still believes he can play in the Premiership,” Bailey added.

If Beasant completes a move to Fulham, the Cottagers will represent his 13th club in a 24-year professional career.

At the moment Fulham are short of a goalkeeper coach

The former England keeper started his career at Wimbledon and captained the Dons to their 1988 FA Cup triumph over Liverpool.

He later enjoyed spells at Newcastle, Chelsea and Southampton before a series of short-term deals in recent seasons.
