Fulham have completed the signing of French international Martin Djetou from Parma on a one-year loan deal with a view to a permanent signing.

The Ivory Coast-born utility man, who can operate as a centre back or in midfield, spent four seasons at Strasbourg before moving to Monaco in 1996 to link up with current Fulham boss Jean Tigana. He helped Monaco win the French Championship in his first season at the club.

Djetou signed for Parma in a £6.5million deal last summer, making 37 appearances and scoring two goals, as they not only starved off relegation from Serie A but won the Coppa Italia by stunning Juventus on away goals in the final. The 27 year-old, who has won six senior caps for France, hopes that rejoining Tigana at Craven Cottage will help him rebuild his career out of the disappointment of missing on the 2002 World Cup.

He joins a growing French contingent at Fulham including Tigana’s assistant Christian Damiano and fitness coach Roger Propos as well as first-team regulars Louis Saha, Steve Marlet, Steed Malbranque, Sylvain Legwinski and Alain Goma.
