Franco Baresi says he will not undermine Fulham manager Jean Tigana in his new role as the club’s director of football.
The Italian legend has left AC Milan to join Mohamed Al-Fayed’s project to turn the Whites into ‘the Manchester United of the South’ and has backtracked from comments in the aftermath of his appointment ten days ago suggesting he would succeed Tigana at the end of the season.
Baresi said:
“After many years in the same place, it was the right time to do something different. Tigana is the manager, I’m the general manager and there is not a problem. I want to take with me to Fulham all my AC Milan experience. I mean the sense of organisation. I’d like to be a general manager who can understand the players and solve problems with calm and experience.”
