Abdes Ouaddoh is desperate to restart his Fulham career after recovering from a freak training ground injury when he was struck by a ball in the face at Motspur Park.

The Moroccan international had made an encouraging start to life at Craven Cottage but required facial surgery after being badly hurt at the Fulham training ground – and he told the club’s official website that his recovery is proceeding nicely.

“The ball hit my right eye during training. It was very painful and there was some bleeding inside so I had to have an operation. Afterwards the doctor has said that I have to rest for a month. Fortunately, the operation was very quick and straightforward, using lasers. They can do things now that they couldn’t do before, so I shouldn’t be out for too long.

“I’m very keen to get going again. For two weeks I’m not allowed to do anything, but then I can start to do some running and basic exercises. Fulham is a good club, there is a good spirit in the team, good fans, and it’s very ambitious. I think that in the next two or three years it will be at the very top level. It’s very important to me that I play a part in that.”

The centre back was a keen observer of Sunday’s keenly-contested SW6 derby.

I enjoyed Sunday’s match very much. It was a hard game because it was a derby, and these matches are always very rough. Each team had a half, so I think a draw was a fair result. But we need the points from the next games, that’s all that matters now.”
