Fulham forward Steve Marlet could miss Saturday’s London derby against West Ham United having been taken off at half-time against Southampton last weekend with a knee complaint.

The club’s record signing could well have suffered a reoccurrence of the injury that delayed his Fulham debut following his £11.5m move from Lyon in August. Jean Tigana removed Marlet as a precaution with previously prolific Louis Saha an option on the bench, but the French international has hardly trained this week and could be left out of the trip to Upton Park if he fails to prove his fitness over the coming days.

Marlet said:

“I received a ball, took control of it, and then tried to turn and run. Unfortunately the opponent, as he tackled me, caught me just under the knee. I don’t think it’s too serious but it’s very painful at the moment.”
