Steve Marlet says he will break his Fulham duck against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
The French international, who has made just two starts since becoming the Cottagers’ record signing when he joined from Lyon in August for £11.5m, missed the 5-2 League Cup win over Derby County in midweek, but has pledged to hit the net at Villa Park.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Marlet said:
“I promise I will score against Aston Villa. It’s very good for the confidence to score five goals in a game, and I hope we will play the same game against Aston Villa. English football is very interesting because it is always attacking, and last night we were able to score five goals. That’s why I chose to sign here.
It’s like the French, Spanish or any championship – I don’t think it’s more physical here than in other countries. The difference is that here, it’s all for the attack, and that’s why I signed here.”
