Managing director Michael Fiddy has left Fulham only a year and half after taking over at Craven Cottage.
A club statement confirmed that Fiddy, appointed in March 2000 after becoming one of the City’s most successful young lawyers, will leave the club to pursue other opportunities and will be temporarily replaced by lifelong Fulham fan Mark Collins, who is a trusted lieutenant of chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed, having worked for Harrods Estates. Fiddy revealed that with promotion to the Premier League and planning permission for the redevelopment of Craven Cottage secured he felt the time was right to move on.
He said:
“It has been a privilege to have been involved with Fulham during the incredible journey that it has enjoyed over the last 18 months. I am grateful to the chairman for the opportunity to be associated with the club during this exciting period. I would like to thank the chairman, the board, the players, staff and fans for their commitment and support they have given me during my tenure. Being Managing Director of this great club has been an honour but I now wish to pursue other opportunities and directions that have arisen. Fulham is an extraordinary club and I am sure that it will fulfil the dreams of everyone associated with it.”
Al-Fayed added:
“I am very grateful to Michael for his commitment, energy and hard work. He played a big part in the club’s success. I wish him well for his future career.”
