Fulham forward Louis Saha has won the first Premiership player of the month award after his astonishing displays for the newly-promoted side in August.

The French striker, who scored 32 goals as the Whites won promotion to the top flight last term, has made light of the challenge of playing in the top flight scoring three goals in his first three league appearances as Fulham have lit up the top flight under Jean Tigana.

Saha, who followed up his brilliant brace at Old Trafford on the opening weekend with the goal that sealed Fulham’s first top tier win in 33 years against Sunderland, said:

“I am thrilled to have won this award. It is for the team as well as myself. I hope that I can go on to score many more goals this season. It will be hard but with the help of Barry [Hayles], Luis [Boa Morte] and Steve Marlet I am sure that I can do that.”
