Christian Damiano believes Fulham’s new signing Steve Marlet can be the Cottagers’ version of Thierry Henry.

Marlet, who cost a club record £11.5 million to bring from Lyon, made his Fulham debut in the debut on Saturday against Henry’s Arsenal. While the French international had little impact on the derby defeat, Damiano is confident Marlet possesses the ability to fire in the goals to aid Fulham’s charge for domestic honours.

He said: “Steve Marlet is a player who is at the same level as players like Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet and we have big hopes for him at Fulham. He is older than the likes of Henry but he is just starting to show his full potential now, and playing in the Fulham team in the Premiership will be fantastic for his progress.”
