Fulham full back Steve Finnan has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifier against Cyprus next month.

Finnan supplied the assist for the only goal in Ireland’s crucial victory over the Netherlands at Lansdowne Road earlier this month. That stunning win has put Mick McCarthy’s side on the cusp of a play-off place on the road to next year’s finals in Japan and South Korea.
