Fulham are looking to land Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu after he was told he could leave Highbury, according to the Evening Standard.
The Nigerian international is currently surplus to requirements by Arsene Wenger after the summer signing of Francis Jeffers from Everton. That opens the door for Tigana, who is targeting a centre forward to complete Fulham’s summer of big spending in preparation for their return to top tier. The Standard reports that the two London clubs have began discussions about a potential move but have yet to agree a fee.
Arsenal want around £10m to let Kanu leave permanently, whilst the Whites have indicated they would be willing to pay £7m up front. Kanu, who won the Olympic gold medal with Nigeria in 1996, has scored 29 goals in 109 appearances since moving to north London from Inter Milan for just over £4m.
Tigana wants to sign a centre forward to compliment his free-scoring First Division forwards in the shape of Louis Saha, Barry Hayles and French hotshot Louis Saha. But moves to bring in Freddie Kanoute and Jan Koller have failed and Tigana wants competition for the injured Sava.
