Fulham goalkeeper Maik Taylor has signed a four-year extension to his contract at Craven Cottage.
The Northern Ireland international has committed his future to the Whites even though the newly-promoted side signed Dutch star Edwin van der Sar for £7m from Juventus earlier this summer. The 29 year-old, who joined Fulham from Southampton in November 1997, was a key part of the side that stormed to the First Division title during Jean Tigana’s first season in charge and has made 198 first-team appearances for Fulham.
Taylor said:
“I’m delighted to have reached agreement on a new contract at Fulham. The club is a fantastic place at the moment. The club, the manager and everyone here is very ambitious and I want to be part of that. Obviously I’m disappointed not to be starting the season in the first-team but it’s down to me to knuckle down and force my way back into the side.”
