Paris Saint Germain winger Laurent Robert has revealed that he held talks with Fulham earlier this summer – but he is likely to sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes, according to reports in France.

Robert has been tipped to leave PSG having fallen out with head coach Luis Fernandez and he has been subject of a bid from Newcastle United. Former Fulham legend Bobby Robson, now in charge at St. James’ Park, has been chasing the French international for some time now, but despite recent talks it appears he will not be taking the trek to Tyneside.

Fulham boss Jean Tigana is determined to bring in a top-class star to Craven Cottage this summer and Robert is one name high on his wanted list.

Robert revealed on his website that nothing was resolved surrounding his future, but that his agent Pape Diouf was to hold talks next week.

“Nothing is decided and more won’t be know until next week,” said Robert. “My agent is away and he will go again next week and that is all I can say. “There has been reports of Fulham being interested and it is true that I spoke to Fulham and manager Jean Tigana, but I did not go to England to look at the club or to Newcastle as reports suggested. “For the meantime the are talks continuing with my agent.

Robert has resolved his disagreements with Fernadez and he has starred for the side in their Intertoto campaign this term having won his place back in the side.

Fernandez is keen to keep the highly-rated ace as he tries to improve on a disappointing campaign last season and he has been offered a new lucrative extended contract to stay in Paris.
