Fulham have been offered the chance to sign David Ginola as the mercurial French winger seeks to leave Aston Villa – but Jean Tigana has reservations about the proposed deal.
Today’s Sunday Mirror suggests that Villa are desperate to offload the 34 year-old they are prepared to make a huge loss on the man whose fitness has been questioned by John Gregory. Ginola, who was substituted before half time in a 2-1 defeat at his old club Newcastle United on the final day of last season in May, would be willing take a substantial pay cut to return to London and sign for the Premiership new boys.
He is frustrated by a lack of first-team football and is confident that he can still star in the top flight. Tigana remains unconvinced, even though Ginola has offered to take a £25,000-a-week pay cut to come to Craven Cottage, as he isn’t sure the Gassin-born wide man will fit into Fulham’s team ethic.
