Fulham are set to sign Bradford City goalkeeper Matt Clarke on a short-term loan deal ahead of the new season, according to a report from Planetfootball.
The 27 year-old custodian will fly straight to Fulham’s pre-season training camp in Luxembourg having returned early from a family holiday in order to play in a friendly for Jean Tigana’s side next week. Clarke will be given the opportunity to earn a permanent deal at Craven Cottage during his month with the Premiership newcomers.
Tigana has targeted experienced goalkeepers over the course of the summer as he has just academy graduate Glynn Thompson and American international Marcus Hahnemann, who is expected to move on this summer, as cover for Northern Ireland international Maik Taylor, who has been Fulham’s number one since joining the club four years ago. Clarke lost his place in the Bradford side last season after failing to agree terms over a new contract, with Liverpool and Arsenal linked with a summer move for his services.
Should the Sheffield-born goalkeeper impress Tigana, it is believed that the Bantams will demand a fee of at least £1m for his services.
