Fulham have offered Oliver Bierhoff a contract worth £30,000 a week to lead their line in the Premiership, according to a report in the Sun.

Jean Tigana, who has been frustrated in his attempts to sign a striker this summer after missing out on Czech Republic international Jan Koller, wants to pair the AC Milan forward with Louis Saha, who 32 goals in 48 games in his first season with the Whites. Bierhoff has admitted he is tempted by the move to London as he looks to force his way in Germany’s 2002 World Cup squad.

The 33 year-old is quoted as saying:

“If I want to achieve my goal of playing in next year’s finals, I cannot waste my time just sitting on the bench in Milan. I’ve had a £2.4million offer from Fulham and the assurance of a first-team place. I’m very tempted to play in the Premiership and I am giving the offer serious consideration.”

Milan are willing to let Germany’s Euro 96 golden goalscorer go for just £1m. Fulham are the front runners to sign the veteran forward as Brescia, Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray are all unable to match the newly promoted side’s proposed personal terms.
