Fulham have announced another pre-season friendly against UEFA Cup finalists Club Deportivo Alaves on Saturday 11 August at Craven Cottage.
The fixture will be Fulham’s second test against Spanish opposition in quick succession after they take on Espanyol during their pre-season tour of France the previous Saturday. Jose Manuel Esnal’s side will provide a stern test for their Whites ahead of their return to the top flight for the first time in 33 years at Old Trafford on August 19th having pushed Liverpool all the way in an epic UEFA Cup final last season.
El Glorioso last 5-4 in extra-time having dispatched Gaziantepspor, Lillestrom, Rosenborg, Internazionale, Rayo Vallecano and Kaiserslautern on their way to the final in their first taste of continental competition. Alaves reached Europe by finishing sixth in the Spanish top flight in 1999-2000, having famously beaten Barcelona home and away, to record the club’s highest finish in their history.
