French legend Michel Platini has hailed the success of Jean Tigana’s Fulham side after watching the Whites beat Grimsby Town at Craven Cottage this weekend.

Platini watched his former French team-mate’s team consolidate their grip on top spot in Division One through second half strikes from Luis Boa Morte and Louis Saha. The former Juventus midfielder told the Daily Mirror that Tigana could change the domestic game for the better:

“Football in England is going through a change at the moment and Fulham are playing the kind of football that needs to be adopted. Clubs like Manchester United are already playing the right football but the others are starting to make the right progress.

It was the first Division One match I have seen and I have to say it was a very hard and physical game. But Fulham tried to play their passing football despite the bad weather conditions and were unlucky not to score more. Only a great performance from the goalkeeper stopped them scoring more.

I hope Fulham get promoted because Jean is my friend. But I am not surprised that he has been successful quickly. Everywhere Jean goes he does well.”
