Cult hero Leroy Rosenior was signed on YTS terms by Malcolm Macdonald as a teenager in the autumn of 1981 but fractured his collarbone on his debut at Leicester City in December 1982. He recovered to eight times in 23 games the following season and following another hot streak in front of goal, Queens Park Rangers paid £100,000 for his services in July 1985. The move to Loftus Road didn’t work and he rejoined Fulham two years later scoring 22 times in 39 games – his most prolific season for the club.

Rosenior and record goalscorer Gordon Davies struck up a prolific partnership but Fulham couldn’t turn down a £300,000 offer from West Ham for their starlet and this time Rosenior flourished in the top flight. He returned on loan in September 1990, scoring three goals in fifteen games, and went on to coach and manage several sides before moving into punditry. Rosenior’s son Liam became a Premier League right back for Fulham and is now managing successfully at Hull City.
