Midfielder Sean O’Driscoll joined Fulham from non-league Alvechurch in November 1979 and made his first-team debut the following March in a 1-1 draw at Notts County. ‘Noisy’ really established himself in the Fulham midfield after Bobby Campbell was replaced as manager by Malcolm Macdonald, scoring seven goals in the 1981/82 promotion winning campaign, despite missing the first six weeks due to injury. He starred the following season as the Whites came agonisingly close to back-to-back promotions, winning the first of three senior international caps for the Republic of Ireland.

He was one of the first victims of the asset-stripping regime of Ernie Clay, leaving for Bournemouth after a successful loan spell. He spent eleven years with the Cherries, making a then-club record 423 league appearances for the club before moving into management after he hung up his boots.
