Tenacious midfielder Stan Horne was the first black player to represent Fulham. He signed from Manchester City in the summer of 1968 having helped them win the First Division title and made 88 first-team appearances in five years at Craven Cottage, before moving on to join Chester City. He was forced to retire prematurely from professional football due to high blood pressure.
