An exciting – and very modern left back – Jim Langley joined Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion in February 1957. He regularly attacked down the left wing, trying all sorts of tricks and flicks, which made him a firm favourite at Craven Cottage. Langley made 356 appearances, scoring 33 goals, in eight years with the Whites, earning three England caps, and helped Fulham reach the FA Cup semi-finals in 1958 and 1962. He missed just two games when the club won promotion to the top flight in 1959, but was controversially released by Vic Buckingham in May 1965.
